Caring for Someone Sick at Home
The CDC has released updated guidance on home-based care for sick individuals. Though many hospitals and clinics may be much busier than normal due to the 2009 H1N1 pandemic, the good news is that most people with flu will be able to be cared for at home and will feel better in about a week.
The recommendations address:
- how to make and manage a sick room
- how to check for and prevent fluid loss in sick individuals
- medicine safety, especially for children
- how to treat the individual flu symptoms (cough, fever, and others)
